PCD Reamer with guide pads
At Sundi Cutting Tools, our PCD Reamers with Guide Pads are designed to offer high-precision, high-durability hole machining. Featuring guide pads typically made from carbide, placed behind the cutting edges, these tools combine the exceptional properties of Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) with the structural benefits of guide pads. They are ideal for industries like automotive, aerospace, and mold making, where precision hole finishing is critical.
Typical Applications:
Automotive: Ideal for precision hole finishing in engine components, transmission housings, and aluminum castings, ensuring high-quality holes with tight tolerances.
Aerospace: Used in aircraft parts and aerospace components made from lightweight alloys and composite materials, requiring precise and stable hole dimensions.
Mold Making: Perfect for finishing mold guide bushings, core pins, and mold cavities, where high precision and smooth surface finishes are critical.
Precision Manufacturing: Excellent for optical equipment, semiconductor parts, and medical devices that require precise and consistent hole quality.

The Features of PCD Reamer with guide pads
Guide Pads for Enhanced Stability
The guide pads, usually made from carbide or diamond, are strategically placed behind the cutting edges of the reamer. They provide a sliding fit with the hole wall, which helps correct the tool's path in real-time, preventing tool deflection and ensuring stable machining.
Superior Precision and Consistency
The presence of the guide pads effectively suppresses radial run-out and tilt, ensuring excellent hole roundness, cylindricity, and straightness. Even in deep hole applications with high length-to-diameter ratios, the tool maintains stable dimensional accuracy, providing superior consistency in batch production compared to standard reamers.
Integrated Cutting and Guiding Design
The layout of the cutting edges and guide pads is carefully designed to achieve "cutting – guiding – finishing" in one integrated process, ensuring smooth and precise hole finishing with minimal deviation.
Suitable for Non-Ferrous Metals and Composites
Best suited for non-ferrous metals like aluminum, copper, and magnesium alloys, as well as non-metallic composites and hard alloys. However, it's less effective on ferrous metals (such as steel and cast iron) due to potential chemical reactions between PCD and iron at high temperatures.
